Filter cages and venturis, matched to the bag.

A filter cage holds a pulse-jet bag open and its condition decides how long the bag lasts. Masturlal supplies galvanised, epoxy-coated and stainless-steel cages, split or full-length, matched to the bag diameter, length and top. Because the bags and cages come from one supplier, the fit is designed together.

Full-length or split?

Split cages come in two or more sections that join at the tubesheet. They are used when headroom above the collector is too low to lift a full-length cage out.

Why the cage affects bag life

  • Bent or rusty wires cut the bag from inside.
  • Too few wires let the bag fold deeply on each pulse, which wears it.
  • A loose fit lets the bag rub; a tight fit stresses the seams.
  • Rough welds at the top or bottom wear holes in the bag.

Venturis

Venturis sit at the top of the cage and direct the pulse into the bag. They are supplied where the collector design uses them.

Questions, answered.

What does a filter cage do?

It supports a pulse-jet bag from inside, keeping it open during filtration and limiting how far it flexes when pulsed.

When should filter cages be replaced?

Replace cages that are bent, corroded or have broken welds. Reusing damaged cages is a common cause of early bag failure.

What is a split cage?

A cage made in sections that join together, used where there is not enough headroom to remove a full-length cage.
