Filter bags for cement plants, baghouse by baghouse.

A cement plant needs different filter bags in different baghouses because each one sees a different temperature and dust. Kiln and raw mill baghouses usually run P-84, fibreglass or PPS; coal mills need anti-static media; cement mills and packing plants run polyester. Cement is one of Masturlal's core industries, and its media is engineered to hold stack emissions at 5 mg/Nm³ or lower.

Media by baghouse

BaghouseConditionsMedia to evaluate
Kiln and raw mill (combined)Hot, moist, alkaline dustP-84, fibreglass with finish, or blends
Clinker coolerHot, very abrasive dustMeta-aramid or fibreglass
Coal millCombustible coal dustAnti-static polyester or anti-static aramid
Cement millFine dust, moderate temperaturePolyester with ultra-microfibre surface
Packing plantAmbient, fine dustPolyester

This is a starting point. The final choice depends on measured temperature, moisture, gas chemistry and the cleaning system.

Things that shorten bag life here

  • Check acid dew point at the kiln baghouse: running below it corrodes cages and attacks the felt.
  • Clinker cooler temperatures swing quickly; size the media for the peak, not the average.
  • Coal mill baghouses need anti-static media and earthed cages.

What Masturlal supplies

  • Pulse-jet, reverse-air and shaker filter bags made in-house
  • Filter cages, venturis and Goyen and Mecair pulse valves
  • Installation, leak testing, bag autopsy and maintenance contracts

What to send for a quote

  • Collector type (pulse-jet, reverse-air or shaker) and the collector drawing
  • Bag diameter, length, top and bottom construction, and quantity
  • Continuous and peak gas temperature
  • Dust chemistry, moisture, acid dew point and particle size
  • Current bag specification, bag life and differential pressure
  • Emissions target

Questions, answered.

Which filter bags are used in cement plants?

It depends on the baghouse. See the table above: each location has a different temperature and dust, so different media.

Does Masturlal supply plants outside India?

Yes. About 30–35% of turnover is exports, mainly to the Middle East, Bangladesh and Southeast Asia, with installations in 40+ countries.

Send us your dust profile.

Temperature, chemistry, moisture, particle size and your emissions target. An application engineer replies within one working day, usually with a media specification within two.
